and having a fine time thank you very much! TBF went to Prague today with his friend James for an IBNO...otherwise known as an International Boys Night Out. All you guys out there...aren't you jealous? Many men hardly ever get a boys night out...let alone an IBNO. Ok, I'll stop patting myself on the back right now for being such a tolerant wife because there is something in it for me...having the house to myself (and King I guess) for one evening knowing that TBF will be home tomorrow...unless he ends up in a jail in Prague...which I warned him not to do or I would be mad! When TBF goes to visit family for a week I miss him terribly and appreciate all the little things he does to make my life easier, but mostly I miss him and I don't enjoy all those nights by myself. But...one night is kind of nice. First of all, I had a very productive day shopping at the Bally shoe outlet in Aarau with the lovely Di and Rammy. This was a very important shopping practice day for our upcoming IGD&NO in Milano. I scored some new shoes, a belt and a handbag ...but I'm not going to tell you how many pairs of shoes I scored as that would be rather embarrassing. Anyway, both the lovely ladies invited me to join their families at home for dinner tonight, but I declined because the thought of watching the food network, reading cooking mags and looking at my cook books without TBF getting bored with me was a bit too precious to let slip. So...gotta go...my cooking related entertainment is calling out to me.
Ciao!

Ah...the guilty pleasures of a good cookbook. I know them well. My own collection is spilling onto the street.
Speaking of food, I owed you guys some restaurant recommendations for Alicante. It looks like you'll be staying a bit south of Benidorm, which is unfortunate because I'm not too familiar with that area. I do know the Denia/Gandia/Javea area that's about an hour's drive north. I've give you two restaurants that I love in the D/G/J area. I know that TBF said you'd be prisoners of the the resort during the weekend, but who knows...maybe you'll have a chance to sneak out or something.
1. Casa Pepa (in Ondara): http://www.restaurantecasapepa.com/ Absolutely fantastic. You will need a reservation. Casa Pepa had (and may still have) a Michelin star.
2. Restaurante L'Era (in Parcent): Calle L'Era, 15. Tel: 96-640-5298. They do a fantastic paella over a wood fire. This is a family restaurant that (I believe) only serves lunch. It's a fixed menu and is ridiculously cheap (I think it was 12€ the last time I was there). Again, you'll need a reservation.
So there. It's too bad that Alicante is so far from Madrid. Otherwise, I'd meet you guys for a drink (as long as TBF isn't mixing it). Oh well...next time.
Hasta luego.

So that's why your car was there in our guest parking!!! But you've been there since short after noon?? ;-) Must have been some fun shopping in that case!!
Well, it WAS you turn! Yeah!
How could I live in Switzerland and not know about the Bally outlet?
Oh. My. Gosh. Pilgrimage in order.
I too enjoy my alone time. The nights when I have no husband I dedicate to watching what I want to watch on tv and not cooking if I don't feel like it and drinking ridiculous tea. But I start to miss him after a couple of days.
Sal, thanks for the tips...we might make it off the reservation. Also, we'll be sure and let you know when we're going to be in Madrid next.
CS - we got an early start - oin the road by 9:15 and back by about 2:15. And then I hung out having coffee, etc. Believe me...my turn at shopping is not over yet!!
It better not be. You have a lot of catching up to do ;-)
that anonymous comment was from me. why was it anonymous?
technology these days, sheesh...
Aarau is a fun place to go shopping. It's small and compact and you can get it all done quickly. New shoes are nice. I've gotta find some that actually fit me! I'm gigantor... But yeah it is fun to be alone for one night...
