Hyvää Itsenäisyyspäivä!

My God...what kind of Finn am I?

I almost forgot that today is Finland's Independence Day. Happy 89th birthday!

Very interesting! I did not know that Finland was once part of Russia.

And you seem to have remembered just in time (10:40pm)! I hope that you at least sang the Finnish national anthem...

I swear you just made those "words" up...

So, everyone grab your "beely" or your "lu-poo-poo-ppo" and say a cheer. (TBF I know those are made up words by your family however they are Finnish to me)

CB - My mom's parents are from an area that used to be Finland but is now part of Russia.
...still waiting for Russia to return the land to Finland.

CS - ...don't know the words.

Jul - Those words are nothing. You should see a Finnish newspaper. Just about every sentence ends in a hyphen because the words are so long.

TMS - I have no idea what you are talking about.

The only Finnish word I know is Joulupukki. Comes in handy at this time of year.
