For The People Living In North America...

Since selling the Jeep last year, I really haven't taken any notice of the price of gasoline. However, I was walking down the street today, and I just happened to look up at a sign outside a local gas station, and...

...WOW!!!

The price of gas here in the Basel suburbs is now up to CHF 1.959 per liter. Curious, I decided to break out the trusty old calculator and figured out that this is equivalent to:

$7.10/gallon in the U.S.

$1.90/liter in Canada.

We'll be in the U.S. one month from today...

...enjoying the cheap gas!

How much is gas where you live?

HAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!!! I LOVEEEEEEE this post, TBF!!! I don't drive here in France and my husband drives a company car so he (luckily) doesn't have to pay for his gas.. Unless we go on vacation, of course! Here in Antony, Ile de France gas costs a whopping
1 euro 40 or 50/litre... that comes to roughly about $8.84/gallon... OOOPS.... I think the French and Swiss pay MUCHHHHHHHHHHHHHH more for gas than the Americans!! What the heck are they complaining about anyhow??? Not that I am complaining, I don't drive, so I can't really complain.. I take the public transport, and that's just fine for me!!

Newsflash: I just heard it's supposed to go up to EUR 1.60/litre in Germany next week. Nice.

1.48 per litre CAD Vancouver - cheap compared to Europe and getting pricer when July hits as we have a 3 cents a litre tax to eventually go up to 7 cents.. Not liking that..

We spent $72 to fill up a VW Golf!

There's an excellent BMW commercial running here in the US. It shows a German petrol sign with $8.00-something a gallon. It says "we're used to paying a lot for gas around here...." I think we American's aren't aware of how expensive gas is elsewhere. Still, at $4.00+ a gallon, it's a bit expensive in our gas-guzzling, 44-gallon, 9 mile per gallon Excursion. Yikes!

Yeah, I guess Switzerland doesn't have nearly as much tax added on to the gas as Germany. It just cost me €80 to fill up our station wagen.

Hold up! We paid 2.30 CHF last week in Lausanne. WTF?
Just another example of Swiss Germans sticking it to us.

Hei Big Finn!

I'm a rather small Finn (huh huh) living in Paris. I've also spent a lot of time in the U.S. I found your blog thru Leesa's blogroll. Since we have same ancestors I felt like saying 'hei' to another creature (proudly?) carrying blond genes.

Btw, gas in Finland is even more expensive than here in France! Those rich Scandinavians... Take care!

tsk - Did you realize that gas costs you about 45 cents per mile? That really sucks!

dp - I would say that the FRENCH Swiss are sticking it to you!

susu - Tervetuloa! It's about time we had more Finns around here!

No the Swiss Germans are keeping the cheap gas for themselves and sending us the expensive gas.
I totally believe it. The same reason they "leave our mail" at customs for weeks at a time.
