Amalfi: Italian Style...

I bought these clothes in Siena earlier this year. If you'll remember, it was part of this crazy hour I spent in a clothing store where a guy who had to be the Italian "salesman of the year" just kept saying "...Mister...one more thing..." to me, and I just kept buying.

I had seen the pants in the store window. I liked them, and I decided to go in on the slight chance that they might have my size. They did, and the saleman "Mistered" me into buying the pink sweater AND the yellow (Mrs. TBF says they're "mustard") suede shoes. I wasn't sure about this particular ensemble, but Mrs. TBF and "her people" talked me into buying it (along with a bunch of other things).

I've worn, but I've never been photographed wearing, the entire outfit. Last night, before going to dinner, Mrs. TBF talked me into letting her take a picture of me "in the style of Etro". Pay no attention to the fruit plate - I had had two martinis on our balcony just before the picture was taken.

I like the clothes, but I think they'd look a lot cooler on an Italian. In my opinion, I look like a Canadian-Finn who lives in Switzerland trying to pull off Italian style.

What do YOU think?

I think if you had dark hair, you could actually pull it off. The combination still looks great on you, though. :-)

I think maybe the fruit plate could be replaced with a "man purse".

The stuff on the plate was not the only fruit in the room. Ummm how do you say fem in Italian.

Wow! Do you think he's Salesman of the Year because he finally sold that God-awful outfit? ; )

CS - Dark hair wouldn't be a problem. Thick hair...that's another story.

Mrs. TSF - I actually have two man purses. However, one is black, and the other is a brown two-tone. I didn't think that either one would go with the outfit. Plus, since I'm a guy, I just have Mrs. TBF carry all my stuff in her oversized purse.

TMS - I'm not really sure..."femmini"? Come on man...break out of the button-down collar shirt and pleated khakis habit. YOU CAN DO IT!!!

TSK - It's possible. However, the clothes were definitely not discounted, so it didn't seem like he was THAT desperate to sell them.

Hey if I could get that pink shirt over my pink gut, I might try it. I used to be very fashion conscious. Don't know what happened to me.
