Not The Best Holiday Season Ever...

It's 2009*, and not a moment too soon. Here's a quick recap on my life between the middle of December and now.

Mrs. TBF and I left for London on the 19th and returned to Basel on the 22nd. All started out well. We ate at some really nice restaurants, took a nice walk through Hyde Park on Saturday, and then things began to take a turn for the worse on Sunday when I began feeling really sick at Harrod's.

Yes, I had a cold when we left for London, but on Sunday it developed into a full-on flu. We ate at one of Gordon Ramsay's restaurants that night, ordered a seven-course tasting menu, and I was only able to force down a couple of bites of each course. That night? Well, I won't get into the details, but let's just say that I was REALLY sick. Fortunately, I felt well enough late Monday morning that we were able to go out for lunch.

I think my illness affected my limited photographic skills because my photos from London pretty much suck. But in case you're interested, here are a few of the ones that are halfway decent.

We got home on Monday night, and then I seemed to be on the mend. I was ok through Christmas and Boxing Day, and then I came down with the flu...AGAIN! It was even worse this time than it was in London. I slept under a blanket on the sofa during the day wearing a fleece, hat, and gloves because I was so cold. Then, I'd wake up drenched with sweat. We went out for New Year's Eve, and I was ok, but I didn't dare stray too far away from a bathroom.

Today, I feel well enough to go to the gym...for the first time since December 18th. Hopefully, that's it as far as illnesses go for me during Winter 08/09.

*Isn't it about time we started saying twenty-oh-nine instead of two-thousand and nine? I mean, we say nineteen-oh-nine, eighteen-oh-nine, and even ten-oh-nine...don't we?

Oh man I am so feeling your pain! After dodging said flu/stomach/nasty thing 2 times successfully I finally came down with it very rapidly on Friday night, while camped out in an apartment full of people, half of whom were also hit with said infection. Let's just say small 2 bedroom Swiss apartment with 1 bathroom is not the place to be in this flu and 5 other people. Oye! Please let it be over now!

Ooog, the dreaded Noro-Virus! You poor thing, that sounds awful. I've just got the dreaded Freakin' Head Cold That's Been Hanging on Since November, but I guess it's a lot better than what you had.

Hope you'll feel fully recovered soon!

Oh schei├če )or is it scheisse)!! I had a cold for two weeks and it turned into what I thought was bronchitis/asthma but my doc said, "Nope, your lungs are clear but go get a blood test for whooping cough!!" Meanwhile, I'm having coughing attacks every few minutes... SUCKS!! Sorry you got sick - TWICE! Esp, in London.... Hope you are all better soon!!

'Tis the season, I guess. The day after we were at your place, I started getting a sore throat which developed into somekind of a head cold, fever and endless coughing that lasted over a week.

And you know what? I've noticed that ever since I've been using the tram on a regular basis, I'm sicker than when I used to drive to work.

I hope this is the last of it for me as well this season.

I do hope it is all over for you! I have been battling much of a cold and flu from the end of Nov to early Dec, but thankfully nothing over Christmas, just too much snow instead.

Oh man, a real man cold huh? You did look okay when we saw you in Boxing Day but Mrs. TBF informed me you were down with a flu again the weekend after. I hope you felt okay after the gym today. I know how much you can suffer after missing out on a few weeks of working out ;-)
