For the second time in two weeks, Mrs. TBF and I both came down with the flu. This bout REALLY hit us hard.
It was a pretty normal weekend until Sunday evening when Mrs. TBF quickly went from "not feeling 100%" to full-on throwing up. When I went to bed around 1:00 a.m., I too noticed that I wasn't feeling 100%.
We ended up tossing and turning most of the night. I'd sleep for about an hour and wake up totally drenched. Then, I'd fall asleep and wake up an hour later frozen to the core.
I knew Mrs. TBF was REALLY sick on Monday morning when she called in sick to work (rare!). By this point, I also had full-on flu.
I remember getting up to...go to the bathroom a couple of times, feed King, and call the garage (which I barely remember) to change a service appointment for the Jeep. However, for the most part, Monday was pretty much a lost day. We ended up finally getting out of bed at 6 p.m. I think I slept for a total of about sixteen hours between 01:00 and 18:00.
This morning, Mrs. TBF called in sick for a second day in a row (REALLY rare!). We're still feeling kind of weak, but we're starting to come around. We managed to hold down some food this morning (after eating NOTHING all day yesterday), and I think we're on the mend.
It SUCKS being sick!
I was born in Canada... I grew up in America... I lived in Switzerland from 2000 to 2010... I moved back to the U.S. in 2010... I'm of 100% Finnish ancestry... ...and, I'm big...I'm The Big Finn! Check out the daily goings on of TBF and his wife - Mrs. TBF. We do a lot of traveling, hanging out with friends, and just plain...ENJOYING LIFE!

Health Update...
King has made a quick recovery, and it seems like he's almost back to normal.
I seem to be getting sicker. Yesterday, it was the pounding headache. Today, it is a combination of chills and sweats, a dry cough, and burning lungs. I don't think it's time to go to the doctor yet, but I might reconsider if my health does not improve by tomorrow night.
Mrs. TBF? She told me last night that she wasn't feeling 100%. This morning, she said she felt sick, but had a meeting she absolutely had to attend. She ended up coming home from the office early and doing her work from home. Of course, Mrs. TBF is blaming me for the sudden downturn in her health. I, in turn, am blaming King for our ills.
So, here we sit with our steaming cups of Theraflu. King is snoring away on the sofa, Mrs. TBF is on a conference call, and I'm blogging away. Romantic, isn't it?
Happy Valentine's Day!

Sick Day...
...times two!
King and I are both sick today. I began feeling flu-like yesterday morning ("...feed a cold, and feed a fever, right?"). This morning, I woke up (with the chills) to the sound of King throwing up what I thought was a hairball. Then, Mrs. TBF informed me that there were little drips of kitty diarrhea all over the house.
"Arrrrgh!"
I have to say that since we adopted King back in 1991, he has rarely been sick. As a matter of fact, I don't recall him every being sick other than having to have an injection to clear the fur out of his digestive track.
So, I jumped out of the warm bed and started the fun task of going around the apartment wiping up all the little "chocolate" drips (...thank God for tile floors). King was kind of following me around, and he would stop from time to time and look as if he was going to...poo on the floor right next to me!!!
"ARRRGH!"
Now, King is normally one of the greatest litter box users in the history of all felines, so this abnormal behavior kind of startled me. I picked up the phone, called Dr. Buser, and got an appointment for 10:00 a.m.
It turns out that King has a bacterial infection. Dr. Buser gave King an antibiotic injection, AND an injection that stops his digestive track working for eight hours; apparently, this was to stop "the beast" from launching from both ends. Also, I'm not supposed to feed him for 24 hours, and he's only supposed to have 1 teaspoon of water at a time.
...good grief! How the Hell am I supposed to do that?
As I was loading King back into his crate, Dr. Buser told me "...zat zee wirus can NOT be transmeetted from zee cat to you, but zee bacteria CAN make you seek eef you do not take extra care by sanitising everyseeng!"
"YOW!!!!"
The worst part, after we got home, was that I had to go around (while sick) and sanitize the floor with bleach and wash a bunch of rugs and our duvet cover (...not a pretty sight!) while King...just slept on the warm tile floor in the bathroom.
It's raining sideways outside right now...
There's not enough food in the fridge for dinner...
I have to go to the grocery store in my weakened state...
Oh, woe is me!
